A Good Therapist
Someone familiar with SSA issues, reparative therapy theories and
methods.
Must have a "connection" with the client.
Must be willing to apply personal time and effort towards client.
2.
Prayers and Support of Family and Friends
Family and friends must be non-judgmental and accepting.
Must provide unconditional love.
Male parental figure, as well as male peers who spend regular,
committed time with the individual.
3.
Support of Spiritual Leaders
Must pay close attention to commitments, appointments.
Must provide spiritual mentoring, not "therapy."
Provide
genuine, unconditional love.
Demonstrate and communicate commitment to helping the individual.
Forgiving.
4.
Own Desire, Drive, Determination and Work
Prayer, fasting, church attendance, scripture reading.
Reading literature on overcoming same-sex attraction.
Attend therapy. Practice and review counsel.
Forgiving self for setbacks -- getting right back up again
Working to avoid sexually acting out, masturbation, pornography,
etc.
5.
Grace of God, Atonement of Jesus Christ
Miracles happen.
The atonement is there for those who accept it.
Accept the Lord's own time, not ours.
